Travel News: DoJ chief orders probe of PCGG travel

MANILA, Philippines -- Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez has ordered an investigation into reports officials of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) have racked up almost $1 million in foreign travel expenses for the first half of this year alone.

"I want to find out if all these travels are authorized in accordance with [an] executive order of the President," Gonzalez said.

He added he is looking at the possibility of expanding the investigation to cover the past two to three years.

"I received [new] information that these officials have been having exorbitant travel [expenses] for two to three years now," Gonzalez said.
